Just the Two of Us

Roland and I had a super date Saturday this weekend. We started off the day with our chores, but then quickly treated ourselves to a breakfast out on our way to the library. We saw another great puppet show performance (Cinderella - spooky) and checked out some new books. Roland is doing great at checking out the books and navigating the library! I love that he's so comfortable there. Afterwards we headed down to the bicentennial mall to watch some trains and tour the farmer's market. TONS of things to talk about, see, smell and observe there! We eased over to Elliston Place Diner for some simple country cooking and a milk shake, and were not disappointed. Roland is the 5th generation of our family to dine there! Next door was a guitar shop so we had to check that out. His friend Connor actually plays the guitar, so he was mentioned by Roland pretty much the entire time. From there we headed over to visit Calen and hang with him for a spell. Calen quickly put him to work and had Roland help make his bed. Calen's hand is broken so it was a nice thing to do. I put toothpaste on his tooth brush and we gave him the rest of our milkshake. With only a powernap under our belt we then drove out to visit with our awesome little friend Stella, who was happy to see us. Roland and Stella played for almost 3 hours straight. The adults were more tired than the kids! We loved it, and can't wait to have them over to our house for some similar shenanigans. (Thanks guys!) Heading home Rols snuck in another powernap - hooray - because Grandpa Bob, Nana, Kris, Calen and Evan were coming over for dinner. Again, another great visit with family! Needless to say, by the time we went to bed that night, we were wonderfully exhausted!
Sunday was indeed a day of rest, and we kept it simple and at home eagerly anticipating the return of Dad. Welcome home Dad, we missed you!
