The Kids New Bedroom

All hell is breaking loose in the kids room. We've just put both down to bed and I can hear Ari laughing her tushy off, and Roland hollering at her to be quiet. By the time I slip downstairs to get Brian to come hear this, which of course in a small house, he already can, Roland is opening the door to tell us, "Aria won't be quiet." Turns out she had dumped a nice load in her pants and was enjoying aggravating the stew out of her brother jumping up and down in her crib. Ah, bedtime.

We got Roland (and Aria...in time) bunk beds for Christmas and it's awesome. The top loft is a play area, the bottom is Roland's bed, and the old toddler bed is a step/trundle. (Roland just stuck his head out the door to tell me Aria is still not asleep. "You can come get her if you want to.") Aria is still in the crib because she is a). an escape artist, b). super sneaky, c). fast as lightening. Hopefully she'll be in there for a while...but she's a much better climber than her brother was.
Aria, forever pointing at something. We had to arrange the room a couple times to decrease the risk of injury from falling and minimize the scalability of climbing from the top bunk to the crib.

It's only a short matter of time before Aria figures out the steps, but for now, Roland loves his Roland-only place space.

Monkeying around, what they do best. That's a TJ special on Roland's bed and it makes me laugh to think of all the places that blanket has been: dessert, beach, lake, Padre games, softball, camping, you name it, and now it's Roland's first big boy bedspread. Heck, that might have been the one Brian sent me in college!

I must say, it's pretty cozy in there. I feel asleep last night in the bunk with Roland AND Aria, one on each side, snug as a bug. Brian slept in there one night right after the surgery when I was up all night with Roland. He was a bit too snug. And hit his head on the top bunk. Either way, it makes an instant awesome fort and the kids love it!
