Pause Button

Do you get the impression I want a remote control for life? 'Reset' button, 'pause' button, oh, and absolutely an 'undo' button.

Brian's always laughed at me for wanting to freeze moments with the kids, which, when I think about it is pretty funny from his view. I've got a crazy good memory, I record everything in snap shots or video and will likely blog about it at some point or another. But sometimes there are just those days, or stretches of days, were everything is really, really good and you can't stop laughing and hugging and soaking it all up. (*Mushy sigh) And I'm desperately trying to keep snapping away - without interferance, it's a rule - and soaking it all in, but alas, I'm falling behind. So I will blog about the zoo and the First center and a host of other things, when I get around to it.

Two quick ones just for me, selfishly:

I got to pick the kids up a bit earlier today, which was a treat. Roland's class was headed out to the playground and as I parked I could see the teachers - who know this is unusual, mouth "It's Roland's mom!" And don't you worry, I lept from that car in the most exaggerated display of goofy extravagance. Was I a children's clown in a previous life? Could be. But nothing gets me more than having 15 of the worlds most adorable 3 ft tall people swarming my legs with hugs and giggles. And Roland just mirrors my explosion with an enormous cheer and a tremendous hug. There were high fives all around and I told Roland to go play while I picked up Aria.

Meanwhile, Aria is enjoying Mrs. Elizabeth's music time, so you also know I can't interrupt. I sneak to a window and watch her clapping and dancing to the guitar, doing knee bends and hip shakes with Charlie and Perry. A grand time. Slipping out the door and just into the line of sight is probably the most fun thing about daycare from a parents perspective: creating that moment where you come into view and you get to watch the heart with legs and arms walking outside your body recognize you and bam - lightening bolt of grins and love. And my heart just explodes. We marched down the hall to get Roland, playing a while with his pals, riding bikes and building castles. He set a party - with chairs for everyone - and told all of us to have a seat - so we did, and it was a funny sight. You might say he gets that bossiness from his Mom. Might.

Ha...so these are the moments I want to pause and replay over and over and over again. Those moments of leaps of love and sneaky surprises. Speaking of sneaky, here's me sneaking up on my little music box during a bath the other night. Enjoy:

So, pause, reset, undo... I wonder what other buttons I could use? The fast-forward 30 seconds is by far my favorite key on the DVR remote. Brilliant function that would be awesome in real life.
