Roland Funnies

This is an older photo of Roland, but I just had to capture some super funnies with him lately.

Anatomy:
In the bath the other night Roland, sitting in the tub pulling on his parts, asks me, "Mom, do my balls bounce?" He was grinning, so I think he partly knew the answer and party wanted to see my reaction/response. "No they don't." Later, when I told Brian this he had all sorts of funny responses I should have said, which I won't repeat here, but seriously, when do those parts become delicate?

Siblings:
Brian and I sat down on the couch for a moment on Saturday letting the kids build forts and spaceships unsupervised in their bedroom. After a couple minutes we heard Aria crying and Brian called out, "Roland, is everything OK up there?" to which he very clearly and quickly responded, "Yes. Aria's just having a meltdown." Hm. That's interesting. Who is saying meltdown in Roland's world? Needless to say, I went up to find Aria like a turtle on its back between two parts of the spaceship. I do want to note that the kids are playing awesome together lately, it's really fascinating to watch!

School:
When I picked up Roland from school the other night, I asked him for his daily sheet. "Let's see what this says." Roland quickly, and loudly, replied, "It SAYS I didn't have any accidents today!" Which brought a hallway full of laughter from the teachers. They love him there and I know absolutely why.

Yoga:
On Saturday's and Sunday's in an effort to get in some sort of shape other than the one I am presently I've been doing a quick yoga thanks to the DVR. I've been incorporating the kids during the warm up and cool down portions if they are interested. Roland is really starting to get the knack of it. Yesterday morning he and I were up early and I decided to attempt to sneak one in before Aria and Brian got up. Roland and I were on the mat doing cat rolling exercises - his form was great - but he rips one right in my face! Of course this was too funny to continue (thank you DVR) and we had to stop for the exercise of laughing. Needless to say, Brian and Aria woke up moments later.

Birthday:
Man-oh-man, is Roland pumped about his birthday. He is always asking, "Is my birthday in three days?" And this three-day thing has Brian and I stumped, but we always tell him no, it's in April, on the 2nd, many weeks from now. Yesterday morning I was helping Roland put on a pair of jeans. It was quickly apparent that they were now too small. I got the next size out of his drawer and tossed the old pair towards my closet. I told him he'd outgrown those and needed a bigger size now. "I've grown! Does that mean I'm four now?" Too cute.

Roland, you are larger than life. And even that well-worn statement doesn't seem to encapsulate or fully justify the fun and enthusiasm you bring to each day. Full of non-stop energy mixed with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, you are turning a corner and really thriving. You inspire Dad and I, and challenge us to be better for you. And a quick note of warning, your sister is watching you closely so choose your actions carefully.
