Bay Lake 2012

At the end of every Bay Lake trip we are happy and tired, vowing to do things a bit easier next year. It never happens. This year we bookended our trip with my brother's wedding and two phases of Ritchie Brothers. We had only a few hours to transition between each. Regardless, Bay Lake is worth it and never fails to provide wonderful moments with our family.

We hauled the boat, a crib mattress, the kids and all our camping/cabin needs 1000 miles to catch fish, jump off docks, ride tubes, tell tall tales, eat great food, enjoy wine time and hug new babies. I'm amazed that while improvements to the cabin and property occur, kids grow and new people are added to the fold, it feels the exact same every time. I've been joining Brian there since I was 20, 13 years later I still feel that age when I'm there. (Except we have kids...where did they come from?) Brian and I still strap on the skis and push kids off docks. We feed donkeys, watch sunsets and take boat rides. (Missing is the day-long pontoon float with Pete, Trev and Jenny.)

Next year it will be different. But at it's core the cabin on Bay Lake will still create all the same happiness it was intended to provide when it was built by Brian's Father and Grandfather. Babies and kids, parents and siblings, friends, cousins and the like will still gather, lounge and enjoy.

Click here to see almost the entire adventure in photos. (I don't take photos every minute...but I did take about 400, don't worry, I didn't post them all!)
