I learned a couple important points:
1. Do this a couple weeks PRIOR to Christmas - for older kids especially - as Roland wrote exactly what he wanted, and as luck would have it, it all worked out! Except for the black polar express train that has a shark tank and real, live sharks - couldn't make that happen - nor the sea creature...but his birthday is around the corner! I love Roland's flourishes on his letters, and appreciate Brian's help keeping the message clear: "Dear Santa, I would (like) a Neovenator, (check!) a T-Rex, (whoops) a black Polar Express train that hauls a live shark in a tank (partial check), and a dinosaur sea creature (eek.)" Thankfully he gave the snake-for-Christmas a rest. And of course, he got time with Connor for Christmas. Roland likes to check things off a list. I have no idea where he got that from.
2. Brian never seems to make a grammar or mathematical error - EVER - but a-ha! Aria would like, "a lady bug and a frog" (first I'd heard of anything but princess clothes) and then Brian filled in the rest...including "stalking stuffers". Awesome. I'll get right on that. Now where does one buy some stalking stuffers? Aria was really getting into writing A's at the time of this letter, not interested in the line to actually form the A, just the shape...
3. Santa should have probably written in print? 5 AM cursive...not the best. (And not the morning of!) And maybe thrown in a reindeer footprint or two, but technically - this letter was all about me - really. :) Because I love those turkeys!
Here's to more fun next year!
