January happened, here's the proof

I love this photo. When I came down the hallway on my way to bed and per the routine no matter where we are, slipped in the kids bedroom to double check covers, kiss still, sleeping warm cheeks, and make sure all was well, this is how I found Aria:

This is pretty much a perfect characterization of Aria, defiant till the last minute in a valiant attempt to ward off sleep. And that's pretty much Aria awake, too. Defiant against anything she didn't come up with. She'll sleep, but only on her terms.

This is also a great photo to sum up my thoughts on January. The backlash of the holiday sprint from mid-November through New Years, January presents a peaceful, holiday-free month of wintry existence. If only we could spend the entire month of January catching up on some much-needed sleep!
