A good friend told me the only thing he wished he done differently with his daughter was less encouragement to talk, because once she started - she never stopped! I know you'll be surprised to know that Roland has always loved to babel, since his parents are so quiet. First it was humming, then babel singing, then long sentences, and of late, full paragraphs with gestures, shoulder shrugs and facial expressions. Even if you ask him yes or no questions, he often replies with long explanations about what ever it is you are asking him about. Little by little his words have come around. First it was bye and Buddy, then Papa, Bob, Anja, and Dad. Then the world of trains hit and we had choo-choo, tracks, trucks, etc. But in the last two weeks we've been experiencing quite a boom: bath, up, mama, shoes, done, please, no, bus, yes, D-E-F-G, P, R, W, Z, 8, 3, pumpkin, sprout, dragon, treat, trick, hot, bink, milk, bird, rabbit, duck, Nana, bubbles and more. I'm thrilled to be able to communicate with Roland better, and we've incorporated some signs, but it's all happening so fast! And so much at one time! I dream of having long talks with him on the ride home inventing stories, singing songs and hearing all about his day. But not so soon! I just wanted to capture a note detailing all these great new developments, before I forget them, and take a moment to miss my little man, who was just a baby yesterday.
Snif.
