So, I know our family in MN has to be laughing at the absurdity that school was called off almost state wide for less than 2 hours worth of accumulation and no ice, but when you get a chance to spend the day together as a family and play in the snow-slush, you take it!
We haven't had a speck of snow this entire winter, so it was exciting for the 2 hours it came down - beautiful - stuck to some stuff - magical - and then went away - typical Tennessee! We made a early run to Target where the horrible weather (!) rendered the store completely empty when we arrived. What does an empty Target store translate to on a winter day? A giant run-your-butt-off-down-every-aisle-gym for a toddler. Seriously. Great time, tons of exercise, we rested in the outdoor furniture display section, picked up a bucket of play-doh and a race track for the matchbox car collection. Afterwards we eased down to PetSmart for our trip to the free zoo. This store was also empty and the animals were feisty! We saw Chinchillas, birds, hamsters, gerbils, rats, snakes, toads, frogs, fish, dogs, crickets, crabs, geckos, and more - twice! We even checked out the one and only cat in the rescue section for some cuddling. After grabbing some lunch to go we visited the grandparents for some chill time before heading home for a household nap session. Hooray! Later on we tracked down some missing groceries at Publix and made a super-snowy-day batch of spaghetti. Could you ask for anything more?
Tomorrow we'll return to our normal selves, Roland to school, Brian and I to work, but today we were the Throop family just out to have fun. Hopefully someday we'll get enough snow to break out the sled!
