It's Still Winter - with NO SNOW!

Oh, how we do we miss San Diego. Our family called from the beach to let us know they were enjoying a perfect 80 degree afternoon on the Hotel del sun deck and would think of us during their leisure walk down the shoreline for exercise. Ah, family love. But it could be worse, we're the family in the south whining about 1/20th of an inch of snow-ice that lasted all of about three hours. We could be the Draves/Throops who just got another round of 6 inches in MN this week. Anyway you look at it, the San Diego folks win.

So here's my So-Cal husband in his So-Cal shirt (not staged, just ironic) picking up the frozen dog water dish barefoot. No matter where we live, we'll always enjoy the beach lifestyle - even if there is no beach. Since it was the weekend of winter weather we enjoyed cooking great dishes, dreaming of warm days, laughing way to hard at my crazy grandparents, working on taxes, etc. Fun indoor-winter-stuff. And before we lost our sanity we went to the Opry Hotel (NOT the mall, yikes). The hotel was actually pretty empty with exception of one small construction equipment convention and two itty-bitty wedding parties, so a perfect opportunity to wander around the sub-tropical cascades enjoying all the horticulture and letting Roland burn off some energy. We especially enjoyed the waterfalls and should we ever live on Quiet Slope lane next to the Elliot's we've got a good idea for our backyard. We're lucky that our kid is so darn cute because he was the official greeter everywhere we went, smiling up a people and pointing out plants in his pterodactyl speak. He's such a beam of sunshine people couldn't help but return the smile. Without getting too sappy, he really lights up our day - even when it is cold and dreary outside!

Next weekend: warm weather and a trip to Dyersburg! (Translation = more awesome pictures from 4-wheeling on the farm!)
