I can't get over how lucky we are to enjoy such a wonderful weekend together. It's impossible to truly understand all the freedoms we enjoy on a daily basis, so the I guess the best we can do is be grateful and get out there!
We had a stay-cation this weekend, focusing on friends and family, and as little miles traveled as possible. We enjoyed a great Saturday morning at the main public library children's theater watching the puppet show "Hansel and Gretel", which was quite surprising. If you don't recall the story, it's pretty gruesome, and a post for another time. Roland loves the shows and especially picking out new library books.
On Sunday we enjoyed Centennial park with friends and their little ones, perfectly dodging the rain and enjoying some amazing Popsicles. We even had our first ever "movie night" as a family and watched Madagascar (about 40 mins of it) on the couch with blankets, milk and our biggest stuffed animals, and the dogs of course. It was super-fun!
Monday we enjoyed the awesome company of Michelle and Connor, who proved to us that the tire swing is THE best fun, just with two toddlers instead of one! And through it all we fixed some great meals, saw the old folks, visited with Calen/Jen, and took many great naps!
Tonight Roland told me "I'll hold you mommy" as I tucked him into bed. Times like these take my breath away, because he's growing so fast, learning so much, and teaching us more and more with each passing day. I realize that every day there are many in service, in a multitude of capacities, that long to hold their love ones like we did this weekend, and for that I say "thank you".
