We live life. And it ROCKS.

Sorry - this post is a week behind....

So on the Friday before last when I pulled into Glen Leven at 5:28:45 PM to get the kids, there's Michelle's trusty red Accord waiting for me. How do I know she's waiting for me? All the window's are up except hers, and it is cracked just so, wrist outstretched through the opening with what any person with half a brain would recognize as tickets. Tickets! I don't even know what for, but I'm excited. And grateful! Michelle never reveals her sources, but she had a few extras and landed us tickets to the show seen above on Sunday. Hooray! Probably one of the coolest Friday pick-ups I'll ever have.

Yacht is just...to the right of the stage. :) We need a pontoon!

The man, the myth, the legend, Jack and his boots.
Sunday Kristi called around 3 PM to let us know she wasn't waiting any longer to get a beer, and we assured her we were just 15 minutes from joining her. Parking in the garage, hoofing it down to the Riverside park, past - oh - about a couple hundred awesome motorcycles we finally got in, grabbed a beer and joined her. Some highlights: the weather was perfect, and I know I say that often, but really, it was perfect; the boys - great moods; the lines - only for the port-a-pottys; the music - awesome - really, I love Miranda, she was GREAT; finding Kristi, Ed, Steve without even having to look for them - stellar.

Ah, me, the classy Mom, I did get one, "Can I get a ride?" request from a huge, HUGE, biker...pretty funny.

Jack, Connor and Roland, forced group photo

Cheering for the next act, clueless to what that means....
Hilarious points to remember: the guys noticing the bikini-clad dancers out on the yacht just past the stage, the random drunk dude getting escorted from the event (how does that even happen?), the boys making a wrestling space, despite the 10 or so people that were previously trying to sit there; Jack's rain boots that he refused to take off; Aria launching me all over the place in the backpack as she rocked out to the music; and finally, the spontaneous barfing from the guy beside us into the trash can. You might cringe, but to us, they are the perfect threads of fabulous stories made into awesome memories.
The wrestling begins, despite Steve's attempts to stop it...

There wasn't a tear shed. Not one.

It was so awesome seeing the three of them finally coming into a place where they can just be BOYS

Everyone took a turn wrangling kids, dancing with kids, herding kids, just keeping the kids contained in one space. Jack, Connor and Roland were so high on each other and rolling down the hill that they never once even noticed the music or bikes. We could have been strangers keeping them in a safe play zone. They played non-stop. It was the biggest waste of two beers any of us ever had, we ran the whole time, laughing with them!
Just enjoying the view. Webble-wobble here was having a tough time on the thick grass...she spent some quality time on Ed's shoulder

Aria singing to Brian

Another forced-everyone-be-still-for-one-minute-moment which was, as predicted, short lived!

I like this one of the two of them, Connor is so sweet on Aria, always helping her out and making sure she's OK, he's a great big-brother!

Grape break, I've always got something packed for everyone, Aria had just gotten out of the pack and is a bit reserved

Ed and Steve, enjoying a quiet moment watching Miranda

Cutest smile I've EVER seen on that boy!

This is the magic of fall. It's like a season of moonlight, you know every second you are in it how rare and amazing it is. Summer's heat is gone, winter's chill is looming, everything is just easy. Every night, paradise. Brian always reminds me this time of year, "This is what every day is like in San Diego." And he's right, but you don't treat it like that when you don't have three other seasons to make you appreciate it. And so we are livin' it up right now, big time. We are getting next-to-nothing done chore-wise, but what is getting checked off our list is parties (more on that later this week), outings, hours with the moon, ghosts and pumpkins, s'mores and bonfires, festivals and 5Ks, football, concerts and more concerts, family and friends - and there is no end in sight! For the 5 people who read this blog, get out there and savor it - fall won't last much longer!

A huge thank you to Michelle, who we never saw and worked the event, for enabling all those who love her so much to throw down together on such a perfect Sunday afternoon. You rock.
