Proof of Life

Roland is going to make it. We're seeing signs of the old him returning. I'm being overly dramatic, but what I mean is, Brian and I will not ship him off - just yet - to a deserted island where only the clouds and vegetation can hear him crying. For hours. I'm not going to recount any of the details of this ordeal because who really wants to remember it? Unless you want candid insight because your child is scheduled for the same surgery, let's just focus on he's going to be GREAT. Soon.

Here's a snap shot of the fun medicine he had to take every 3.75 hours for the first 6 or so days:

And here's all he wanted to do when he was feeling good: (no photos of him curled up in a ball sleeping, or crying when he was feeling bad)

His neat rows of cups of anything his heart could desire in liquid form. You want a beverage? We've got it, and then some. Milkshake, Gatorade, water, the works. Aria dumped an entire ruby red Naked juice over the upstairs carpet so we'll be steam cleaning that memory out later this spring.

In the beginning he liked the milkshakes, but only for a day. He's lost about 4.5 lbs through the ordeal.

He was a bit swollen and puffy for the first week, but seems to be fine now. If only we could get his voice to come back to normal. Nana hooked him up with super compfy new PJs, socks and an assortment of videos and books. Oh, and the iPad! Thanks Nana!

Doctor said he's healing great, the scabs will fall off soon and he attended school for the first time today - and had a great day. So far so good. Can't wait to spend time with him this weekend where we can play and be happy again! Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement, it has meant so much.
