If you are sugared out on this sappy-sweetheart-day, step away from the blog. I'm warning you. My obnixious love-flag is flying confidently in the breeze. I think 2011 is a year of understanding more truths about myself, and while I (we) "don't fall prey to Valentine's day", I (we) relish in a free-for-all day of love!
A now, a note from our love sponsors:
Apparently, we like our love loud. How can you not? The day starts with sweetness from the worlds most awesome kids. (Who are loud.) Your drive to work includes all-you-can-stand love songs on every radio station. (Also, loud.) The parking association is handing out carnations, which absolutely make your day. (Like when you were in high school and some unknown boy liked you and sent you one in homeroom! Unabashed I grinned ear-to-ear pulling in the lot, how do I get a job like that?!) Speaking of high school, I made Brian a new mixed CD (insert a blush here). Add to that a cute pink from head-to-toe outfit with matching tutu Aria wore to school and Roland's can't-stand-still excitement about giving out Valentine's and I'm on a sugar high from just breathing!
It's not about special meals and dinners out, flowers and jewelry, it's about a super-sappy-soak-up-all-the-love-you've-got day. We started a few weeks ago, making our classroom valentines, play-dough and Lightening McQueen pencils. Then started on our family valentines - lacey paper doilies - just like when I was little with my Mom. (Which arrived on time - amazing!) From there we worked on our McKendree valetines and finally, I threw it into high gear with heart shaped pancakes for breakfast. Yes, that much love. (Roland didn't want to cut them up!)
Both kids had great days, with homemade kleenex boxes brimming full of love notes and candy they'll never eat. (Sorry kids, Tootsie Rolls? Really?) We had an amazing time handing out valentines at McKendree. (Roland rocked it and even Aria was giving out hearts.)
Had enough? Mouth-puckered from the sugar? Stomach hurting?
