What? Warm weather?

Seeing this saved-draft of warmer days makes me really miss the warmth of Spring. I joked with my co-workers that by the time Spring actually arrives it will be time for summer and we'll go straight from wool jackets to blistering heat indexes. However, anything sounds better than the freak hail storms that seem to be following me.

Way, way back, many Saturdays ago we had an explosion of warm weather...if just for a day. Everyone and their brother was outdoors. Roland's day school class scheduled an impromptu play date at the park to let the kids run amuck. And run they did.

Here's the slowerer two of the bunch, Aria and pal Betsy making their way through the equipment. Betsy has the most honest facial expressions.

Aria, suffering from another of my poor attempts at fixing hair (sorry, really) standing on some balance thing or another.

Will, Roland's classmate, can totally rock shades all the time. It's incredible how he keeps them on this head like that! Again, sorry Roland, mom just decided to see how long your hair could grow. Your parents aren't much for style or maintenence themselves...you'll learn.

We had a blast, and an awesome picnic for all. And when it was time for naps, we came home and had a perfectly random and adult Saturday picnic: new Time magazine, margaritas, chips, pickels, small dish of salt. And with blanket in tow and hammock strung between the trees we unveiled the whitest skin the neighbors have likely ever seen and soaked up some vitamin D. And it was D-lish. Although short-lived. Kids seem to KNOW when you are trying to squeeze in some chill-out time. :)

But these are the hints of Spring! Park visits in the morning, hammock swinging in the afternoons...ah...please Spring, get here soon!

Nothing beats a Spring day at the park. Maybe next time they'll nap a little longer. . . .
