Conditioning

Shameful parenting moment Sunday afternoon. Roland was the first of the kids to get up from nap, sleepily descending the stairs. I scooped him up and settled into the couch for some cuddle time. Turned on the TV to see if I could catch the score on the Women's FIFA game. Instead caught the always-inspiring last ten minutes of the Iron Man coverage.

I explained to Roland that these athletes compete in a race called the Iron Man, where they get to swim, bike and run - in Hawaii! How cool! I told him how I liked to run and enjoyed races and hoped that someday he would want to run races, too.

"Roland, would you like to run races with me?" Grinning, already picturing us...together, running...training together...encouraging each other...

"No. You should race with Dad."

Brian quickly added, "Uh-uh. I'm not running with Mom, that's why she's trying to get you to do it."

Did I tell you how athletic Aria is? :)
