Funny Moments Not to be Forgotten

(Roland enjoying his Valentine's Day Lunch at school with Caty looking on.)

Since Roland was itty-bitty we would bring him to bed with us first thing in the morning. Through all the different transitions it has been one routine we've never given up. When he was little he'd lay on his stomach, lifting his head gazing at each of us slowly. He used to love the way the morning light came in through the blinds. Now he sleeps through the night in his own room and we can honestly say we haven't used an alarm clock in a year - because he wakes us up almost every morning. Sometimes we hear him singing, but most mornings he's calling for one of us. We take turns, one grabs Roland, the other turns on coffee and gets a milk. And no matter how groggy you are, it's still the best time.

The other morning the first words he said were "cheeseburger", which totally cracked us up. We couldn't laugh out loud because we were worried he was serious and we can't have cheeseburger's for breakfast! The other day he quietly sang the entire alphabet, twice! Most mornings turn into Brian and I taking turns stealing him away from the other so we can get in as many hugs as possible. He talks softly, tells you about his dreams in his language, and we talk about the day ahead. It's the BEST way to start each day.

He's got an ear infection right now and a decent case of the crud, so were is the best place to get better when you're 2? In a pile of pillows with all your favorite stuffed animals in mom and dad's bed of course! Hopefully he'll feel better by the morning, which of course, is the best time of the day.
